Beggining tomorrow, I will be posting a new ongoing comic strip, Cosmopolis.

This new series was born out of a growing necessity of developing my own creative playground, free from the baggage of collaborations and others' editorial visions. Now, I have nothing against writers, editors or teaming-up with other creators -- I've done so in the past, hopefully I'll continue to do so and it should be underlined that it does have its rewards -- but the result of such ventures usually tends to be a compromise that isn't always easy and most of the time doesn't necessarilly fulfill my personal vision. Basically, I need something that allows me to follow my creative instincts and take my art through paths I wish to see it cover.

As a result of this, I've taken to the challenge of doing it all on my own: creating, writing, drawing and lettering my own characters and stories -- the blame for its outcome as a comic strip lies strictly upon me. I've decided to start by cleaning up an old project I had lying around my studio and revamp it according to my current drawing and storytelling abilities.

I hope you stick around for this experiment and have fun with it.

Summertime epilogue

Summertime is over. Well, at least it is here in my blog. This was a fun experiment of posting a real sketch - warts and all - each day, of improvising, of throwing a whole lot of shit against the wall in order to see which one would stick. A special extra thanks to Mike Haseloff for helping out with the posting.

For one long summer a city feared a man whose penchant for silent entry by cover of night earned him the tabloid handle of -- "The Black Ghost." He killed many, before he was finally brought to justice by a vigilante who presented himself as the man's opposite -- The White Ghost.
What began as an act of desperation becomes a way of life for Charles Scott. Having made the acquaintance of an undercover operative during his pursuit of the killer. Scott becomes entangled in the mystery of his disappearance.
As White Ghost he continues a search for answers that may or may not be black and white.
In this character driven story from Nite Lite Theatre, the initial players in this mystery begin to reveal themselves, layered through the unique character driven perspective of Charles Scott.

My sketchbook is finally available for sale!

SELECTED SKETCHES 1992-2002 is a small sample extracted from the numerous sketchbooks I've filled with drawings in the years when I was to college and the first couple of years after I'd finished it.

Covering a wide array of styles, moods, techniques and subject matters, this is also an experiment on the wild frontier of p.o.d. and self-publishing - so far, I've been pleasantly surprised with how good it turned out in terms of the printing quality. Hopefully SELECTED SKETCHES 1992-2002 represents the first of many similar ventures.

NEWS!!!

Well, it's been awhile... I've been incredibly busy with my current schedule as a teacher, which leaves little to no time for the finer things of life like comics and blogs ;-p

Still, not all is gloom and doom. The Kirby Martin Inquest #1 is finally ready to see print. This is a project written by Mike Hasselhoff and drawn by yours truly. It's been a long time coming - far too long - but it looks like it'll soon be in everybody's hands. And the second issue is also about halfway done! Updates soon at www.nitelitetheatre.com

Meanwhile, work continues to slowly progress on my collaboration with Daniel Whiston for Engine comics - Vanguard.

Last but not least, a catalogue of art collected from my personal sketchbooks, Selected Sketches, is being prepared for release this summer. Stay tuned right here for more info as it develops.
